Parrot Island Waterpark is partnering with residents throughout the community to raise money for United Way of Fort Smith! Participants will have the opportunity to ride our NEW 2-Lane FlowRider to see how long they can surf upright. Pledges will be collected at a minimum of $1.00 per second.
The top 20 surfers who earn the most money, PLUS 10 of their friends and family members, will be invited to a private party on August 1.
The Parrot Island Surf-A-Thon benefiting United Way will be held on Saturday, June 22 at 11 am
*Date subject to change in the event of inclement weather postponing construction
1. If you want to surf, fill out the contact form below. We will e-mail a pledge form to the first 250 people. (Due to capacity, we are only able to accommodate 250 participants.) Riders must be at least 48 inches tall to participate in the Surf-A-Thon.
2. Collect pledges! Call, go door-to-door, email or post on social media to ask friends and family for their support! 100% of the money raised will go to the local United Way. Participants will have from May 24 to June 21 to collect pledges. Pledge forms must be emailed to SurfParrotIsland@gmail.com by June 21.
Please be at the park by 10:30 am on June 22 to sign in. Participants will be directed to a check in area. We strongly recommend wearing secure clothing that will not budge once you fall. Once participants have surfed, they will be given their official time by a Parrot Island representative.
We are using United Way’s Text to Give to collect pledges. Participants are responsible for sharing their ride time with their pledgers. Pledgers can text “ParrotIsland” to 41444 and will be texted a response with a secure link where they can enter their credit card information. We ask that everyone take advantage of this way to pay, but checks made out to “United Way of Fort Smith” with “Parrot Island Surf-A-Thon” on the memo line can be mailed to United Way of Fort Smith, P.O. Box 2300, Fort Smith, AR 72902. United Way representatives will also be on site taking donations during the event.
Parrot Island will not accept money. Pledge money must be turned in by July 19.
